Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have marketing techniques and a list of clients begging for our services?

Sadly, clients don’t just show up at your doorstep wanting your expertise. That’s living life in a dream world; in reality, you need to market your company every single day to attract clients. If you’re not marketing, how will people know you even exist?

We know how difficult it can be to step out from behind the computer and put your face and name out into the public eye. Every business owner suffers from stage fright at some point, such as when it’s time to unveil your new website, new course, or new membership site. It’s nerve-wracking to be in the public eye, with all the focus shining on YOU.

That’s why it’s a necessary step to have marketing techniques if you want to grow your business. Just think about your tribe of followers who hang on your every word. They believe in you and trust you. Plus, there are many others out there who you haven’t even reached yet. Thousands more people you can help with your message; now it’s just a matter of getting that message to them by marketing.

Even though marketing your business is an everyday activity, it doesn’t have to be difficult or complicated. Instead of hitting up your followers with daily promotions, focus on relationship marketing or building trusting relationships with your audience. Take an interest in them and their struggles. Create products or programs that speak to those struggles and help relieve those problems. Show compassion and empathy for your audience and they will come to view you as a real person who cares instead of a no-face business corporation that is only concerned about making money.

Let’s review some general marketing techniques which will transform any business:

Become a trusted resource to your audience.

Providing lots of free content is how you’ll grab your followers’ attention and build that trust. Lending support and giving advice on social media and/or in social groups will also showcase your expertise. As you develop this trust, the next logical step is to market your paid products.

Add new marketing techniques to your business consistently.

Always think about delivering quality content that will help your followers solve a problem. Think ahead and hire a dream team of independent contractors who can turn your content dreams into a reality. New content – either free or paid – lends itself to easy promotions and will likely attract new people to your business.

Define how you stand out from the competition.

Why should your followers buy from you instead of your competitor? It sounds like a simple question, but it often stumps a business owner’s marketing techniques. Knowing your Unique Selling Proposition allows you to create marketing promos that highlight this difference.

Focus on the result instead of your product’s features.

Do your customers really care about all the bells and whistles your product has? No, they are most likely only care about the result your product promises. Make your product or program as robust as you like but remember to define the result and make that a focus of your marketing efforts.

Anticipate changes in your marketing techniques.

Always be current on happenings in your market. You will garner more attention by being a market leader instead of always trying to catch up and change with the times.

Before you get overwhelmed with all these marketing techniques, know that many self-proclaimed introverts run successful businesses, so there’s no reason why you can’t take this information and make it work for your business. Everyone’s marketing results will vary – especially if you’re new to this and want to take it slowly – but you CAN find success by implementing some or all the ideas we’ll cover in this month’s profit planner.
